U Ekonomskoj i trgovačkoj školi Dubrovnik, u sklopu mjesečnih aktivnosti centra EUROPE DIRECT Dubrovačko-neretvanske županije, 9. veljače održana je edukacija o EU izborima za maturante. Edukacija je bila namijenjena osobama koje prvi put glasaju, kako bi ih informirali o procesu glasanja, radu Europskog parlamenta, njegovom utjecaju na građane EU i mogućnostima koje nudi, a osobito za mlade ljude. Krajnji cilj edukacije bio je približiti učenicima važnost glasanja na izborima te ih potaknuti na sudjelovanje u EU izborima u lipnju 2024.
Predstavnik EUROPE DIRECT-a DNŽ, Božo Simović iz udruge ESN Dubrovnik, maturantima je predstavio osnovne informacije o Europskom parlamentu, načinu na koji se on formira, zaduženjima članova EU parlamenta (MEPovi) te načinu njihovog biranja i ovlastima.
Učenicima su predstavljeni i online alati koje mogu koristiti kako bi se samostalno informirali, poput Kutka za učenje, platforme EU-a koja je namijenjena učenicima osnovnih i srednjih škola te ih na zabavan način informira o EU. Tom prilikom predstavljena je i Youth Hub platforma Europskog parlamenta za mlade koja na jednom mjestu okuplja informacije o mogućnostima, programima i aktivnostima Europskog parlamenta. Učenici su istaknuli kako su ovakvi alati i platforme iznimno korisni jer na jednom mjestu mogu pronaći sve ključne informacije te su naglasili kako su im je izuzetno zanimljiv dio o mogućnosti sufinanciranja posjeta događajima poput European Youth Event-a tijekom kojeg se imaju priliku informirati te upoznati nove osobe.
Tijekom edukacije učenicima je predstavljena kampanja Europskog parlamenta #IskoristiSvojGlas, koja za cilj ima potaknuti što veći broj građana da se uključe u EU izbore te portal zajednoza.eu. sa mogućnostima lakog informiranja o radu EU parlamenta i cijele EU kao i o načinu sudjelovanja na događajima koji organiziraju mnoge organizacije unutar EU. Predstavnik EUROPE DIRECT-a DNŽ posebno je istaknuo važnost opcije „Podsjeti me da glasam“ kako bi građani digitalnim putem dobili podsjetnik o sudjelovanju na EU izborima koji će se u Hrvatskoj održati 9. lipnja 2024.
